Day 1 on the Verification Engineer path.

What a Verification Engineer does

Verifies that engineering designs meet requirements by planning tests, running checks, and reporting issues so products work safely and reliably.

  • Review requirements and turn them into clear verification plans and test cases
  • Build test setups, simulations, or scripts to check design behavior
  • Run verification tests across prototypes, lab rigs, and production-like builds
  • Analyze failures, isolate root causes, and write clear bug reports
  • Track coverage and risks to show what is proven and what is still unknown
  • Work with design teams to agree on fixes and re-test changes
  • Document results for audits, safety reviews, and release decisions

A day in the life

  1. Start with a short sync to review priorities, failures, and test status
  2. Write or update test cases, then run automated and manual checks
  3. Debug a failing test by comparing logs, waveforms, and requirements
  4. Meet with designers to explain issues and confirm the next experiment
  5. End by updating dashboards, reports, and the next-day test queue
