Day 1 on the Process Engineer path.

What a Process Engineer does

Improves factory and industrial processes so products are made safely, consistently, and at lower cost.

  • Analyze production data to find waste, defects, and bottlenecks
  • Design process changes to improve yield, cycle time, and quality
  • Run experiments and trials to validate new settings and materials
  • Create and update work instructions, control plans, and SOPs
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues with operators and maintenance
  • Set up process monitoring using sensors, charts, and alarms
  • Support new product launches by defining stable production steps

A day in the life

  1. Review yesterday yield, scrap, downtime, and safety incidents
  2. Walk the line to observe issues and talk with operators
  3. Test a process change and record results from the trial run
  4. Meet with quality and maintenance to close out root causes
  5. Update documentation and plan the next improvement experiment
