A short guide for parents and teachers: what Welica does, what it costs, what it won't do, and how we check our information.
What it is
Welica is a career-preparation app for students aged 16 and up. They pick the role they want, and Welica gives them a step-by-step plan to get there: the skills to learn, a project to build, people to talk to, and the interview questions they'll face. About 15 to 30 minutes a day.
Not sure which role? The free career fit survey takes about four minutes. It asks what they enjoy and suggests roles that fit, across 406 roles in 8 areas, from nursing and teaching to engineering and the trades.
Five things to know
It's built for the long haul.
Welica works best when students start early and keep going: a short step a day over months, not a crash course before placements. Most plans take 3 to 5 months at 30 minutes a day. Missing a day doesn't break anything; there are no streaks.
Career skills, life skills and wellbeing, together.
Most career platforms cover only the technical side. Welica adds 16 life skills courses (communication, money, problem solving and more) and wellbeing tools, because employers look for these skills and a months-long plan needs focus and energy.
Wellbeing here is not therapy.
It isn't clinical, and there's no chatbot or AI in it.
It's a set of short, practical tools for four things: attention (focus and distraction), direction (what matters today), connection (friends, family, asking for help) and capacity (energy, sleep and workload).
The tools are always free, and check-ins stay private to the student.
It doesn't replace a counsellor or doctor.
We take our information seriously.
Every role is matched to official government job data and published studies, and every claim links to a source we opened and read.
Information passes several checks: automatic checks against fixed rules, then a person reviews the parts that matter most.
Every role is re-checked every month, and each role says how confident we are. How we rate a job →
It helps with discovery too.
Students who don't know where to start can begin with the career fit survey, explore roles, and pick one when they're ready.
What it will not do
It won't promise a job.
It helps the student build a strong case; the hiring decision is always the employer's.
It won't call a career dead.
For every role it shows which tasks AI now does and which stay with people. Where entry is getting harder it says so, and points to nearby roles.
It won't push anyone towards computer science, or away from it.
406 roles, from software to nursing, electrician to teacher. The fit survey starts from what they enjoy, not what's fashionable.
It won't show you their check-ins.
Wellbeing check-ins are private. If you want to know how they're doing, ask them.
Age, privacy and safety
For ages 16 and up. It asks for an age range at sign-up, never a date of birth.
No ads, no ad trackers in the app, and no tracking across other apps. Personal data is never sold.
AI gives optional feedback on practice answers, and the app says so where it happens.
Money
Everything is free for 3 days, no card. After that, the fit survey, chapter 1 of every path, the first lessons of every course and all wellbeing tools stay free.

For teachers
Welica can sit alongside career guidance at school. It gives students a concrete plan to work on between sessions, and a project to bring back and discuss.

Three questions that work better than 'have you done your Welica today?'
Which role did you pick, and why?
What did you make in the last chapter?
Which chapter has been hardest so far?
Questions parents and teachers ask
Is this career counselling?
No. It's a self-guided plan, one step a day. It doesn't replace a counsellor or teacher who knows the student; it gives those conversations something concrete to work with.
Can a 15-year-old use it?
Not yet. Welica is for ages 16 and up.
Who is behind it?
Welica is made in Chennai by Equanimo Private Limited. It was founded by Aroop Kumar, who has a long interest in how people learn and build habits, and a background in analytics, consumer lending and management consulting.
Can I pay for it from my account?
There's no separate family plan. You can create the account in your own name and subscribe, and the student uses it from there.
Is the career information reliable?
Every role is matched to government occupation data and re-checked monthly. No press releases, paid market reports or vendor surveys, and each record says how confident we are.
What happens to their data if they stop?
They can delete the account from inside the app at any time, and the data goes with it.
Send them the link.
Free to start, no card needed. The plan is theirs.
