Day 1 on the Validation Engineer path.

What a Validation Engineer does

Validates that products and processes meet requirements by planning tests, running them, and documenting evidence for teams and regulators.

  • Review requirements and risks to define what must be validated
  • Write validation plans, protocols, and acceptance criteria
  • Set up test equipment, fixtures, and safe test conditions
  • Run functional, stress, and reliability tests and record results
  • Analyze failures, find root causes, and suggest fixes
  • Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams on changes
  • Create traceability from requirements to tests and evidence
  • Prepare validation reports and support audits or customer reviews

A day in the life

  1. Plan the week: review requirements, risks, and test priorities
  2. Run tests in a lab or on the line, logging data and observations
  3. Meet with engineers to review failures and agree on next steps
  4. Update protocols, reports, and traceability as designs change
  5. Share results in a short review and file evidence for audits
