What a HVAC Technician does

Install, maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems for homes and buildings so they run safely, efficiently, and comfortably.

  • Diagnose heating and cooling problems using tests and customer symptoms
  • Install new HVAC units, ductwork, thermostats, and ventilation parts
  • Repair or replace motors, compressors, fans, belts, and electrical controls
  • Perform preventive maintenance like cleaning coils and changing filters
  • Check refrigerant levels, find leaks, and recharge systems safely
  • Measure airflow and temperatures to balance comfort and efficiency
  • Explain findings, costs, and care tips to customers or site managers

  2. Travel to sites, inspect systems, run tests, and diagnose the root cause
