What a Civil Engineering Technician does

Helps engineers and survey teams plan and build roads, buildings, and utilities by collecting field data and preparing accurate drawings and reports.

  • Collect field measurements using survey tools and record results clearly
  • Draft and update site plans, profiles, and construction details from notes and data
  • Process survey data to create maps, stakeout points, and quantity takeoffs
  • Support inspections by checking work against plans, codes, and tolerances
  • Coordinate with crews, engineers, and contractors to clarify site questions

  • Maintain equipment, calibrate tools, and follow site safety procedures

  1. Review plans and daily tasks, then travel to a site or survey location
