Day 1 on the Robotics Technician path.

What a Robotics Technician does

Maintain and troubleshoot industrial robots for factories and warehouses so equipment runs safely with minimal downtime.

  • Diagnose robot faults using alarms, logs, and basic tests
  • Repair or replace parts like sensors, cables, motors, and grippers
  • Teach and adjust robot positions for new parts or process changes
  • Support PLC and safety circuit checks during line issues
  • Run preventive maintenance and lubrication to reduce breakdowns
  • Calibrate tools and vision systems to keep accuracy in spec
  • Document fixes, parts used, and repeat issues for the team

A day in the life

  1. Start with safety checks, review downtime notes, and plan priority repairs
  2. Work on the floor: troubleshoot stops, swap parts, and test cycles
  3. Coordinate with operators and engineers before restarting production
  4. Update maintenance logs and order parts for upcoming work
  5. End with a handover on open issues and risks for the next shift
