What a Chemical Technician does

Support lab teams by preparing samples, running tests, and recording results to help make safe, consistent products and processes.

  • Prepare chemical solutions and samples using written procedures
  • Run routine lab tests and operate basic analytical instruments
  • Record results in logs or lab systems and flag unusual readings
  • Calibrate, clean, and maintain lab equipment and work areas
  • Follow safety rules for chemicals, waste handling, and PPE use
  • Label, store, and track chemicals and samples to prevent mix-ups
  • Support investigations by repeating tests and checking possible causes
