Runs daily factory production by planning people, machines, and materials so products are made safely, on time, and to quality standards.

  • Plan daily and weekly production to hit volume, cost, and delivery goals
  • Coordinate supervisors, operators, and support teams across shifts
  • Track output, scrap, downtime, and labor hours; fix gaps quickly
  • Enforce safety rules and investigate incidents to prevent repeats
  • Work with quality teams to resolve defects and customer complaints
  • Manage staffing, training, and performance for production teams
  • Coordinate maintenance and changeovers to reduce unplanned stops
  • Report results to leadership and drive continuous improvement actions

A day in the life

  1. Review safety, quality, and output from the last shift and set priorities
  2. Walk the floor to spot issues, unblock teams, and confirm standards
  3. Meet with planning, maintenance, and quality to align the daily schedule
  4. Check KPIs, update the plan, and escalate risks to delivery or safety
  5. End day with shift handover notes and next-day staffing and materials checks
