What a Flight Attendant does

Keeps passengers safe and comfortable during flights by running safety checks, giving briefings, and providing onboard service.

  • Conduct pre-flight safety checks of cabin equipment and supplies
  • Deliver safety briefings and enforce safety rules during all phases of flight
  • Assist passengers with seating, carry-on storage, and special needs
  • Provide food and beverage service and handle onboard sales when required
  • Monitor cabin conditions and respond to medical issues or conflicts
  • Coordinate with pilots and crew to manage delays, turbulence, and disruptions
  • Lead evacuations and emergency procedures when needed
  • Complete flight reports and document incidents and service issues

A day in the life

  1. Arrive early for crew briefing, route details, and safety assignments
  2. Inspect the cabin, set up service items, and greet boarding passengers
  3. Run safety demo, then manage service while monitoring the cabin
  4. Handle issues like sick passengers, turbulence, or seating conflicts
  5. Debrief after landing, file reports, and prepare for the next leg
