What a Chef does

Plan, cook, and supervise meals for guests or customers, keeping quality, timing, and food safety on track.

  • Plan menus and recipes based on season, budget, and customer needs
  • Prep ingredients and cook dishes using safe, consistent methods
  • Coordinate kitchen timing so all orders go out hot and on schedule
  • Taste and adjust seasoning, texture, and presentation before serving
  • Train and guide kitchen staff on techniques, standards, and hygiene
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and storage to reduce waste and shortages
  • Keep the kitchen clean and follow food safety and allergy controls
