What a Avionics Technician does

Install, test, and repair aircraft electronic systems so planes can fly safely and communicate reliably.

  • Install avionics equipment like radios, GPS, autopilot, and flight displays
  • Diagnose faults using test equipment, wiring diagrams, and system manuals
  • Repair or replace wiring, connectors, antennas, sensors, and electronic modules
  • Perform functional tests and calibrations after maintenance or upgrades
  • Update software and configuration settings for aircraft electronic systems
  • Document work, test results, and parts used to meet safety rules
  • Coordinate with mechanics, pilots, and inspectors to confirm issues and fixes
