What a Content Designer does

Designs the words and structure inside digital products so users can understand tasks, make choices, and finish actions with confidence.

  • Design clear UI text for screens, buttons, forms, errors, and empty states
  • Map user journeys and plan content flows across steps and channels
  • Write and test microcopy to reduce confusion and improve completion rates
  • Partner with designers and researchers to align content with user needs
  • Coordinate with product and legal teams on tone, policy, and compliance needs
  • Create content guidelines, voice and tone rules, and reusable patterns
  • Review product changes to keep language consistent and accessible

A day in the life

  2. Draft and iterate UI copy in design files, then get quick peer reviews
  3. Join design critiques and refine content based on flows and edge cases
