What a Procurement Specialist does

Buys goods and services for an organization by comparing suppliers, negotiating terms, and managing orders to keep costs down and deliveries reliable.

  • Analyze purchase needs and turn them into clear requests for quotes
  • Research suppliers and compare price, quality, lead time, and risk
  • Negotiate contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules
  • Create purchase orders and track approvals through the buying process
  • Coordinate with finance, legal, and operations to meet policy rules
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality issues
  • Maintain vendor records, pricing lists, and contract renewal dates
