What a Customer Support Specialist does

Helps customers solve product or service problems via chat, email, and phone so they can keep using it smoothly.

  • Diagnose customer issues by asking questions and checking account or order details
  • Resolve common problems using help articles, scripts, and troubleshooting steps
  • Document each case clearly in a ticketing system and tag the right issue type
  • Escalate complex bugs or policy cases to the right team with full context
  • Teach customers how to use features and share tips to prevent repeat issues
  • Coordinate with billing, product, and engineering to unblock customers faster
  • Analyze recurring issues and suggest updates to FAQs, macros, and workflows

A day in the life

  1. Start by reviewing queue priorities, outages, and handoffs from the last shift
  2. Handle a mix of chats, emails, and calls while keeping notes in each ticket
  3. Use internal tools to verify identity, check status, and test quick fixes
  4. Escalate a few cases, then follow up to confirm the customer is unblocked
  5. End by updating macros or a short help note based on what came up today
