What a Customer Success Manager does

Helps customers use a product successfully by onboarding, solving issues, and planning next steps to keep them satisfied and renewing.

  • Onboard new customers and teach them how to use key features
  • Run regular check-ins to track goals, usage, and risks
  • Diagnose problems and coordinate fixes with support and product teams
  • Create success plans with clear outcomes, timelines, and owners
  • Monitor product adoption and spot early signs of churn
  • Coordinate renewals by proving value and aligning on next-year needs
  • Collect customer feedback and share patterns to improve the product

A day in the life

  1. Start with inbox and dashboards to spot urgent issues and at-risk accounts
  2. Host customer calls for onboarding, training, and quarterly reviews
  3. Work with support and product to unblock bugs and feature questions
  4. Update notes, tasks, and health scores in the CRM after each touchpoint
