Day 1 on the AI Product Manager path.

What a AI Product Manager does

Shapes how AI and machine learning solve real user problems. Guides teams to launch features that work even when models are limited or uncertain.

  • Frame which user problems AI can solve and where it cannot
  • Define feature behavior, prompts, and rules for model outputs
  • Set quality standards and design evals (tests that measure how well the model performs)
  • Work with data scientists and ML engineers on feasibility and tradeoffs
  • Prioritize features by user value, cost, risk, and model readiness
  • Plan staged rollouts and monitor accuracy, safety, and adoption
  • Decide how to handle wrong answers, edge cases, and failures

A day in the life

  1. Review eval scores and user feedback, then adjust feature priorities
  2. Meet ML engineers to scope feasibility and discuss model tradeoffs
  3. Write prompts, behavior specs, and rules for handling bad outputs
  4. Test the latest model on tricky cases and log quality gaps
  5. Sync with design and leaders on rollout risks and next experiments
