Day 1 on the Aerodynamics Engineer path.

What a Aerodynamics Engineer does

Improves how air flows around aircraft, cars, and drones using simulation and tests to boost stability, safety, and efficiency.

  • Analyze airflow around vehicles to reduce drag and improve stability
  • Build and run CFD simulations to predict performance in different conditions
  • Plan wind tunnel tests and compare results with simulation data
  • Design and refine shapes like wings, ducts, spoilers, and fairings
  • Create test plans, assumptions, and reports for design decisions
  • Work with structures, propulsion, and controls teams to balance tradeoffs
  • Support troubleshooting when prototypes or tests show unexpected behavior

A day in the life

  1. Review goals and constraints with the design team and set analysis priorities
  2. Run simulations, check mesh and boundary settings, and validate results
  3. Meet with test engineers to plan wind tunnel runs or review data
  4. Document findings and recommend geometry changes with clear evidence

What AI does

Trained surrogate models predict a pressure field in seconds.

Still yours

A surrogate is not a solver. You still run the real one.
