Day 1 on the ESG and Disclosure Analyst path.

What a ESG and Disclosure Analyst does

Builds the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) numbers a company must report, and keeps a clean audit trail behind them. Reporting rules differ by country: the EU uses CSRD, India uses BRSR, and the global ISSB standard is spreading. You track which rules apply and make the report follow them.

  • Collect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, energy, and social data from many teams
  • Map each data point to the disclosure framework that applies (CSRD, BRSR, or ISSB)
  • Build the sustainability disclosure report and check every number ties back to evidence
  • Keep an audit trail so each figure can be traced to its source
  • Work with external auditors who test and sign off the ESG data
  • Track changing rules across regions and flag what the company must report
  • Calculate metrics like emissions intensity and diversity ratios for the report

A day in the life

  1. Open trackers, chase missing emissions and social data from site teams
  2. Reconcile a supplier energy figure against invoices and fix the gap
  3. Meet finance to align ESG numbers with the financial reporting calendar
  4. Update the disclosure draft and log the source behind each metric
  5. Answer auditor questions and pull evidence files they request
  6. Review a new reporting rule and note what changes for next cycle
