What a Sports Coach does

Es teach athletes skills and strategy, run training sessions, and support performance, safety, and teamwork.

  • Plan training sessions based on goals, season schedule, and athlete needs
  • Teach sport skills, tactics, and rules using drills, demos, and feedback
  • Assess performance and track progress with notes, video, and simple metrics
  • Build team culture, confidence, and communication on and off the field
  • Manage warm-ups, conditioning, and recovery to reduce injury risk
  • Prepare game plans and make in-game adjustments during competitions
  • Communicate with athletes, parents, and staff about expectations and progress

  1. Review goals and plan drills, equipment, and timings for the next session
  2. Run practice: warm-up, skill work, small games, and cool-down
  3. Give quick feedback, set homework drills, and check athlete wellbeing
  4. Watch game film or take notes, then adjust the next week plan
  5. Message parents or staff about schedules, travel, and any concerns
