Day 1 on the Learning Experience Designer path.

What a Learning Experience Designer does

Designs how people move through a learning experience, from learner needs to structure, practice, and assessment. Brings UX and design-thinking methods to learning: prototyping and testing experiences with real learners, not just producing courseware.

  • Research learner needs, goals, and gaps before any content is built
  • Map a clear path through topics, practice, and check-points
  • Design activities and assessments that prove learning actually happened
  • Prompt and direct AI tools to draft first versions of content
  • Edit and shape AI drafts so they fit real learners and goals
  • Build quick prototypes of lessons and test them with users
  • Work with subject experts to confirm accuracy and depth
  • Use evidence on how people learn to guide every design choice

A day in the life

  1. Talk with a subject expert to clarify goals and audience
  2. Sketch a learner journey and decide where practice fits best
  3. Prompt an AI tool to draft a lesson, then edit it hard
  4. Build a quick prototype and test it on a few learners
  5. Review feedback and reshape the structure, examples, and questions
