Day 1 on the Operations Consultant path.

What a Operations Consultant does

Help organizations run smoother by mapping how work gets done, finding delays and waste, and guiding teams to improve speed, cost, and quality.

  • Diagnose process problems using interviews, data, and on-the-ground observation
  • Map end-to-end workflows and handoffs to find bottlenecks and rework
  • Analyze performance metrics like cycle time, cost, error rates, and capacity
  • Design improved processes, roles, and controls that teams can actually follow
  • Build simple business cases and prioritize improvements by impact and effort
  • Run workshops to align stakeholders and agree on a practical plan
  • Support pilots and rollouts, track results, and adjust based on feedback

A day in the life

  3. Build process maps and analyze data in spreadsheets, then draft findings
  4. Facilitate a workshop to agree on fixes, owners, timelines, and measures
  5. Send a short update, risks, and next steps; prep for the next meeting
