What a Data and AI Strategy Consultant does

Helps organizations decide where AI should go and fixes the data first. Assesses how mature the client's data is, designs the data architecture and governance (rules for who owns and protects data), and builds an AI roadmap that leaders approve and fund.

  • Assess how ready a client's data is: quality, access, ownership, and gaps
  • Map the client's data landscape: what exists, where it lives, who owns it
  • Design data governance models that set clear rules for quality and ownership
  • Rank AI opportunities by value, risk, and how ready the data is
  • Build the data and AI roadmap that boards review, approve, and fund
  • Recommend build versus buy for data platforms and AI capabilities
  • Sequence the unglamorous data fixes that must happen before AI projects start
  • Define success measures so leaders can track whether the strategy is working

A day in the life

  1. Review data quality findings from yesterday's assessment of client systems
  2. Interview a department head about which data they own and trust
  3. Work with architects to compare two data platform options on cost and fit
  4. Score three proposed AI use cases against the data readiness checklist
  5. Draft the roadmap slide that shows data fixes before AI launches
  6. End with a short note to the client sponsor on findings and risks
