Day 1 on the 3D Artist path.

What a 3D Artist does

Creates 3D characters, objects, and environments for games, film, and AR so scenes look believable and match the story style.

  • Design 3D models from sketches, references, or scans
  • Build clean topology for animation, deformation, and performance
  • Create UVs and textures to define color, material, and surface detail
  • Set up lighting and basic rendering to match the intended mood
  • Optimize assets for real-time engines and target devices
  • Review work with art direction and apply feedback quickly
  • Organize files and follow naming and version control rules

A day in the life

  1. Check tasks, references, and style guides, then plan the day work
  2. Model and refine shapes, then unwrap UVs and paint textures
  3. Test assets in a scene or engine and fix shading or scale issues
  4. Join reviews with the team and update work based on notes
