What a Facilities Manager does

Keep buildings and on-site services running safely and smoothly so people can work, learn, or receive care without disruptions.

  • Coordinate building maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs
  • Plan preventive maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns and downtime
  • Manage vendors and contractors, including quotes, work orders, and service quality
  • Oversee cleaning, security, waste, and other site services to meet standards
  • Handle space setup for moves, events, and new teams, including furniture and access
  • Track budgets, invoices, and asset records for equipment and building systems
  • Support safety checks, incident reporting, and compliance with site procedures

  2. Walk the site to spot risks, check cleanliness, and confirm critical systems are OK
  3. Coordinate contractors, approve work, and update stakeholders on timelines
  4. Plan upcoming maintenance, order supplies, and close out completed work orders
