Day 1 on the Employee Relations Partner path.

What a Employee Relations Partner does

Handles the human, judgement-heavy side of human resources (HR) that software cannot do, such as workplace investigations, conflicts, and disciplinary cases. Helps managers and staff sort out hard people problems in a way that stays fair, calm, and legally safe.

  • Run workplace investigations into complaints, harassment, and misconduct fairly
  • Interview staff, gather evidence, and write clear, neutral reports
  • Mediate conflicts between coworkers and help them agree on next steps
  • Advise managers on disciplinary, grievance, and performance cases
  • Keep cases confidential and document every step and decision carefully
  • Check that actions follow company policy and employment law
  • Spot patterns in cases and suggest fixes to managers and HR

A day in the life

  1. Review open cases, urgent complaints, and any new reports filed
  2. Hold a confidential interview with a person involved in a case
  3. Write up notes, evidence, and a clear summary of findings
  4. Coach a manager through a tricky disciplinary or grievance step
  5. Mediate a meeting between two coworkers to ease a conflict
  6. Update the case tracker and check upcoming deadlines and follow-ups
